Reading the atlas

History pins sit on today's landscape. Dates describe the story associated with a place. Guided journeys connect related places; their lines are reading paths, not surveyed historical routes.

These little landscapes use real elevation data with exaggerated height, warm light, and a decorative cutaway base. The default 20× sculpted relief makes mountains visible at state scale; choose 1× for true proportions. Drag to turn the miniature. City views reveal more detailed terrain and imagery.
